« For me, only stainless steel has the capacity to allow this particular penetration of space while remaining unchanged in its aesthetic and technical qualities in an outdoor setting. The resistance to stress and the innate strength of the materials themselves reinforce the image of the sculpture to the very last atom. This final organic integrity is a necessity if the sculpture is to be believed. Its structure and materials must involve and imply the very content of the sculpture if each person’s intuitive sense as to “the rightness of things” is to be included and satisfied – as it must – for the sculpture to have successfully given itself. »
